SAWS Staff Volunteer on Local Thursday Crew

As the SAWS volunteer calendar wraps up for the year, SAWS staff continue to get out on the trail in continued public lands stewardship. Today, SAWS staff had the opportunity to volunteer with the local "Thursday Crew," This crew of local volunteers is organized by the Tellico District of the Cherokee National Forest and meets each week here in our home of Tellico Plains, TN, to work on trails across the district. Today, SAWS Director, Bill Hodge, and Education and Volunteer Engagement Coordinator, Brenna Irrer, were two of eight volunteers led by the district Wilderness and Trails Tech. The crew had a fun and productive day widening tread on the Benton MacKaye Trail.

A dedicated trail maintainer and local volunteer

who inspired the creation of SAWS.
