Southern Appalachian Wilderness Stewards (SAWS) is a nationally-recognized, award-winning federal agency partner that fields boots-on-the-ground staff to maintain both safe public access and protect federally designated wilderness and wilderness study areas in the Southeast United States. We grow wilderness stewardship expertise for the current and next generation of persons involved in conservation of public lands. We offer transformational experience opportunities for field crews, rangers, and specialists that we employ as well as provide traditional tool, trail maintenance, and wilderness 101 trainings. We are committed to equitable access to public lands and building an inclusive next generation of conservation and wilderness leaders.
We are seeking a diverse range of experiences, skills, and expertise for new board members. If you are passionate about public lands, the outdoors, and inclusive and accessible recreation, please consider expressing interest at bit.ly/SAWSBoard.
